 NEVILLE'S ISLAND -
SWEDISH OUTDOOR THEATRE
Ystads Stående Teatersällskap
will perform Tim Firth's
comedy NEVILLE'S ISLAND at Marsvinsholm Castle, near Ystads
in Sweden during late June through till August 10th. The theatre
is a 650 seated outdoor arena with the stunning Marsvinsholm
Castle and its lake as the backdrop. The 17th July show will
be for the two charities, Médecins Sans Frontières

to be launched at the Chichester Festival Theatre in September

sides of buildings, will showcase at the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch

CALENDAR GIRLS
BBC ONE is showing
CALENDAR GIRLS this Sunday 3rd February (8:45pm - 10:25pm).

Tim's recent screenplay
'CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC' will begin shooting next
month. The production is an adaptation of Sophie Kinsella's comedy
novels and stars Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers), Hugh Dancey,
Krysten Ritter and Joan Cusack. The storyline revolves around
a college graduate who nurtures a shopping addiction and falls
for a wealthy entrepreneur and the film will be directed by P.J.
Hogan (Muriel's Wedding) for Jerry Bruckheimer/Disney pictures.

THE FLINT STREET
NATIVITY is to be the
Liverpool Playhouse's Christmas show for the second year in a
row! The seasonal comedy, which last year broke box office records
and became the theatres most successful Christmas show ever,
has been confirmed for the 2007/08 season. The young pupils of
Flint Street Primary School, all played by adults, perform the
nativity play for their parents. The story is based on real events,
collected over the years from Tim's family and friends who were

SONGWRITING COURSE
Tim Firth will co-tutor a songwriting course with Willy Russell
at Ty Newydd, the National Writer's Centre for Wales. Although
students will not be expected to have a formal training in music,
the course will involve a strong element of performance and each
student will be expected to have sufficient musical ability to
accompany him or herself on a chosen instrument. The course runs
from Monday 12 Saturday 17 March at the centre's residential

Eve (9.30pm). Tim's most recent film, KINKY BOOTS,
with two great perfomances from Chiwetel Ejiofo and Joel Edgerton

THE FLINT STREET NATIVITY is
breaking box office records at the Liverpool Playhouse. Tim's
Christmas nativity, adapted from his television play, is a huge
success and playing to packed houses. In a 4-star review, The
Metro described Tim Firths play as excellent
while the BBC online review praised its life and
vitality and fine ensemble acting. THE FLINT
STREET NATIVITY runs until 20th January, but tickets are

The build up to THE
FLINT STREET NATIVITY opening at Liverpool's Playhouse is
gathering pace with previews in the weekend press. The Times
listed it amongst its Top Twenty 'must see' Christmas
shows and the Guardian gave the production top billing
in its weekend 'Guide'. The Telegraph carried an article
written by Tim about the inspiration behind FLINT STREET NATIVITY.

The Flint Street Nativity
now has its very own shop window in Liverpool - much to the amusement
of passers-by and people stuck in traffic! The shop window in
Liverpool's busy Lime Street, was high-jacked last week by the
cast. Liverpool residents can now purchase theatre tickets in

LIVERPOOL PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES CAST
FOR FLINT STREET NATIVITY
With the start of rehearsals
less than a month away, the casting process is nearly complete
for the Liverpool Playhouse Christmas show. Natalie Casey
(Hollyoaks, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps) will be
donning a tea-towel as our Shepherd while Neil Caple (Brookside),
who was last seen at Liverpool in Unprotected, will be playing
both Herod and Joseph. Due to a bout of chicken pox at the school,
Neil is not the only child to play two roles as Nick Bagnall
will be both the Star and the Ass. Flint Streets Angel
will be played by Rina Mahoney (Casualty) and Anabelle
Dowler, who also last appeared in Liverpool in The Mayor
of Zalamea, will come bearing gifts as a Wise Man. FLINT STREET
NATIVITY runs from 7th December 2006 to the 20th January

working on a new movie. Inspired by the BBC TV Trouble At
The Top documentary, 'The Kinky Boot Factory', about
the Northampton-based traditional men's shoemakers who desperately
tried to stave off the collapse of the British shoe industry
by starting to manufacture footwear for transvestites. It stars
Chiwitel Ejiofor and Joel Egerton and is directed by Julian Jarrold.

Rep. "I got a call from the director Paul Raffield, who
was actually in the first production of Neville's Island, and
he said "we have a problem with the mobile phone".
Over the last ten years or so mobile phones have shrunk so much
that a scene in which one of the men kills a trout by hitting
it over the head with a mobile phone would no longer work. Today's

HARDING SHOW
- Tim Firth will sing alongside
Willy Russell on the Radio2 Mike Harding Show on Wednesday
October 6th. He will perform two of his own compositions at the
'Live from Liverpool' show. The show will also
feature Ralph McTell and Janis Ian. The show goes out on Radio2,
88-91FM between 8.00pm - 9.00pm. You can also 'listen again'

TRAPPED
- KING OF FRIDGES will be previewed at the Edinburgh
Television Festival on Saturday 28 August, followed by a
discusion by Tim Firth and Richard Wilson. It is hoped that they
may be joined on the panel by Sioned Wiliam, the ITV controller
of comedy and Henry Normal the producer of King of Fridges but
this is not yet confirmed. The screening is at the Tinto at 12.30pm.

- KING OF FRIDGES one of the trio of single plays, devised
by Tim Firth and presented as TRAPPED, is about the ambitious
young manager of a Currys-style electrical warehouse. This young
man gets saddled with a sixty-five year old on a frenetic Bank
Holiday. The play stars Richard Wilson. (2/08/04)

COMPANION
OF LIPA
- Tim will be honoured with
a Companionship of the Liverpool Institute of Performing
Arts at a special ceremony this coming Friday (30 July).
The award will be presented by Sir Paul McCartney. LIPA
awards companionships to individuals in recognition of their
contributions to the world of art and entertainment. Willy Russell
will also receive a similar award on the same day.

Calendar Girls Story is a new book that tells the real story
behind the photo-shoot that started the Calendar Girls phenomenon.
Written by Jim Simpson, the book has lots of anecdotes from the
real calendar girls and photographs taken during of the making

Tim
will appear in a BBC4 documentary which pays tribute to the life
and
work of Jack Rosenthal. Jack, who died earlier this year, was
one of British
television's most successful comedy dramatists and created classic
tv plays The Knowledge, Spend Spend Spend, Bar
Mitzvah Boy and The Evacuees. Tim credits Jack with
being one of the key pioneers of the genre of comedy drama and
was a huge fan of his work. The programme will broadcast on BBC4

FRINGE FESTIVAL
- The details of Tim Firth's
and Willy Russell's SINGING PLAYWRIGHTS - AN EVENING
OF WORDS AND MUSIC, appearance at this years Edinburgh Fringe
Festival have been finalised. The show, similar to IN OTHER
WORDS, will feature all the musicians from the tour, and
will preview on 20 August then run through to the 30 August (5.30pm),
with two additional matinee shows (3.00pm) at the Presence Grand

Tim
has been awarded a Companionship of the Liverpool Institute
of Performing Arts 2004. LIPA awards companionships
to individuals in recognition of their contributions to the world
of art and entertainment, particularly within the sectors to
which LIPA is linked. The award will be presented at a special
ceremony at LIPA on 30 July.
The
IN OTHER WORDS, Willy Russell and Tim Firth musical show
has been booked for an eleven date residency during the Edinburgh
Festival in August. The whole 'words and music' will be showcased
at the Pleasance Grand during the Internationally famous Edinburgh
Festival. More news soon...
IN
OTHER WORDS
Tim Firth and Willy Russell
are continuing to receive critical acclaim for their innovative
stage show, IN OTHER WORDS. The two playwrights/singer
- songwriters blend spoken word from their plays with songs from
their albums HOOVERING THE MOON and HARMLESS FLIRTING,
and have created a quite unique musical show. They played four
shows in succession during the past few days. A free show was
arranged at LIPA - Liverpool (were three of the band are second
year degree students) and then shows in York (Friday), Hay Festival
(Saturday) - the band played to a capacity audience of 1600 in
the Channel4 Marquee - and Northampton on Sunday night.

 Tim has completed recording of
his new album and a release date is due shortly. Produced by
Andy Roberts and Willy Russell, songs from HARMLESS FLIRTING,
were featured during the IN OTHER WORDS tour.
The album contains 11 tracks,
all self-penned by Tim.
