aCALENDAR GIRLS
2010 could be CALENDAR GIRLS year as it kicks off on one of the largest UK tours ever for a play. After a record breaking 2009, the hit show opens at Chichester Festival Theatre on 27th January, and tours across the UK for the whole of 2010. Lots of theatres are selling tickets fast and already repeat dates have been penciled in for Birmingham's Hippodrome for later in the year. Productions around the world are also planned. The show is a success in Athens (currently showing) and opens in Norway (22nd Jan) and Buenos Aires later in the year

CALENDAR GIRLS will close at the West End's Noel Coward Theatre on the 9th January, in preparation for a major tour of the UK which will take in most of 2010. The stage adaptation of Tim Firth's hit film broke box office records on tour last year before transferring to the Noel Coward in the spring of 2009, where it continued to break box office records. aCALENDAR GIRLS 10th Anniversary
A group of the original CALENDAR GIRLS celebrated the 10th anniversary of their decision to strip - and are preparing to launch their new calendar next month. The women's fundraising has topped almost £2 million over the past decade and a BBC Inside Out documentary, shown last night, documented how they came to produce the calendar in the modest hope of raising enough money to buy a sofa for a hospital waiting room. aLEADING LADIES STRIP OFF FOR CHARITY.
Leading ladies Lynda Bellingham and Patricia Hodge will be stripping off in the West End to help raise thousands of pounds for charity.
The actresses, along with fellow cast members Sian Phillips, Gaynor Faye, Elaine C. Smith and others, are the stars of Calendar Girls, the stage show based on the true story of members of the Rylstone and District Women's Institute who produced a nude version of the local WI calendar to raise money for charity. For weeks the show has been playing to packed houses on a UK tour. Now it's coming into London's Noel Coward Theatre, where it will run from 4 April 2009. Instead of the ticket booking fee going on 'administration', it will go directly to Leukaemia Research. The ladies will take a six-week break over Christmas into late January and then rehearse cuts and changes made by writer Tim Firth and director Hamish McColl. KINKY BOOTS, Tim Firth's comedy and 2006 Miramax film release has been acquired for the stage by veteran Broadway producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig, who aim to turn it into a Broadway musical. After seeing "Kinky Boots" at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006, Roth was attracted to its theatrical possibilities and acquired the stage rights from Disney. (24/07/08)

is to be the Liverpool Playhouse's Christmas show for the second year in a row! The seasonal comedy, which last year broke box office records and became the theatres most successful Christmas show ever, has been confirmed for the 2007/08 season. The young pupils of Flint Street Primary School, all played by adults, perform the nativity play for their parents. aSONGWRITING COURSE
Tim Firth will co-tutor a songwriting course with Willy Russell at Ty Newydd, the National Writer's Centre for Wales. Although students will not be expected to have a formal training in music, the course will involve a strong element of performance and each student will be expected to have sufficient musical ability to accompany him or herself on a chosen instrument. aLIVERPOOL PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES CAST FOR FLINT STREET NATIVITY
With the start of rehearsals less than a month away, the casting process is nearly complete for the Liverpool Playhouse Christmas show. Natalie Casey (Hollyoaks, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps) will be donning a tea-towel as our Shepherd while Neil Caple (Brookside), who was last seen at Liverpool in Unprotected, will be playing both Herod and Joseph. Tim will be honoured with a Companionship of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts at a special ceremony this coming Friday (30 July). The award will be presented by Sir Paul McCartney. work of Jack Rosenthal. Jack, who died earlier this year, was one of British

Tim Firth and Willy Russell are continuing to receive critical acclaim for their innovative stage show, IN OTHER WORDS. The two playwrights/singer - songwriters blend spoken word from their plays with songs from their albums HOOVERING THE MOON and HARMLESS FLIRTING, and have created a quite unique musical show. They played four shows in succession during the past few days. A free show was arranged at LIPA - Liverpool (were three of the band are second year degree students) and then shows in York (Friday), Hay Festival (Saturday) - the band played to a capacity audience of 1600 in the Channel4 Marquee - and Northampton on Sunday night.
