Combat Sheep was a spin off from THE ROTTENTROLLS, broadcast as a Christmas Special on a BBC2 comedy night and got higher ratings than any of the adult programmes at peak time. Steve Coogan took over role of Commander Harris, the deluded redundant military sheep mascot, from John Thomson who was filming in Australia.

Puppeteers included Simon Buckley, who was lead puppeteer on THE ROTTENTROLLS, and Nigel Plaskitt, who had just finished being the 'monkey' on the ITV digital adverts with Johnny Vegas.
